Western Province crowned Currie Cup champions

Western Province finished their season on a high when they beat the Sharks 33-21 in the Currie Cup Final in Durban on Saturday.

The men from the Cape were under the cosh for most of the first half but came back strongly as the match progressed and scored 18 unanswered points in the second-half to claim an impressive victory away from home.

Province eventually outscored the Sharks four tries to two with Huw Jones leading the way with a deserved brace in his final match for the side before his departure to Glasgow Warriors.

The home side scored first through  Odwa Ndungane – who was playing in his final game before his retirement – after a fantastic break from Marius Louw.

WP hit back with a monster scrum. The ball went wide and Jones sold the dummy to score under the posts.

Curwin Bosch then landed a penalty for the Sharks before Dan du Preez went over after a solid bulid-up of phases from the home side.
